ST LUKE 900 - A Background

During the summer fête last year, the history time-line produced for Open Door was on display.  It aroused quite a lot of interest and people expressed surprise at the age of St Luke’s  We do not have a definite date for the start of building work, but we know that St Luke’s became a parish church in 1143AD.  We also know that there was a chapel on this site before then, so that we can with confidence say that St Luke’s has been a centre of worship in Cannock for about 900 years. This is something worth celebrating!

We hope therefore  to hold a series of events running from May to October in 2015.  This will be an opportunity to involve the local community (schools, clubs, societies, churches, the Local Authority) in spiritual and secular celebrations with a focus on St Luke’s and Cannock.

There will be regular updates in the magazine and on our website and if anyone wants to be involved please contact me.
